Throughout his career Dave has demonstrated commitment to moving the Aboriginal community forward. Mr. Tuccaro has always been keenly aware of how valuable sports are (particularly a sport like karate) in building character and good life habits.

Michael_Brotchie Mr. Michael Brotchie Born in Singapore. Occupation lawyer in BC, England and Wales. Studied pencak silat as boy and karate under Arneil Sensei to ni dan. Lives in Vancouver.

Director & Assistant Instructor

Calvin Helin is Tsimshian; Lax Kw'alaams First Nation. He is of the clan of Ginaxangiik, and his family crest is Gisbudwaada (Killerwhale).

He has studied karate with Sensei Nomada since 1981 and is a third degree black belt. Mr. Helin is a lawyer, businessman, and writer.

Gordon Freeborn Mr. Gordon Freeborn Retired Delta Fire Chief and instructor with the Justice Institute of B.C., began studying Goju- Ryu karate with Mr. Nomada over 30 years ago at the Steveston Martial Arts Centre in Richmond, B.C

Laurie_Gunderson Laurie Gunderson Laurie Gunderson has over twenty years of experience in administration; notably in the organization of special events. She has been practicing karate for nine years, the last five with Sensei Nomada.


Yoshi Ohashi Yoshi Ohashi Mr. Ohashi was born in 1945 Nagano Japan. In 1966 he started studying Gojo Ryu karate in Tokyo. He subsequently immigrated to Canada in 1969. From 1973 to 1975 he studied Gojo Ryu karate Vancouver. In 2011 he returned back to the study of karate.
